Daniel Whitehurst, CPA ia a sole practioner with offices in Longview and Kilgore, Texas He brings over 30 years experience in accounting, taxation and investment management to his clients.
In addition to public accounting, Mr. Whitehurst has served in executive officer positions with two ET banks with responsibility for trust and estate administration and investment portfolio management for both bank and fiduciary accounts. He currently serves Texas Baptists as a volunteer for the Institutions Audit Group.
He has been affiliated with and a featured speaker for the Association of Baptist Foundation Executives, the Southern Baptist Business Officers Conference, the Texas Bankers Association and variety of area estate planning and tax councils including Longview, Tyler and Austin.
The PASTOR'S Conference will cover issues that deal with minister tax issues.
The FINANCIAL ASSISTANT/CLERK Conference with deal with church tax issues.

This scholarship is given in memory of Park Heights Baptist Church. This church was a very active part of Smith Baptist Association from 1940 until 2010 when the church was officially disbanded and the assets given to an African American congregation. The church put aside monies to be used for this scholarship in order to help ministers further their education as they prepare for ministry.
Requirements:
* The applicant must be a member of a church of good standing in Smith Baptist Association
* The applicant must be attending a school recognized by The Baptist General Convention of Texas, The Southern Baptist Texas Convention, or The Southern Baptist Convention.
* Applications will only be considered during two periods each year: January 1-31 and July 1-30
Procedure:
* Each applicant must submit a completed application
* Applicants must submit a letter along with the application stating why they need the scholarship and how it will help them prepare for ministry
* Each applicant must submit a statement from their church that demonstrates that they are a member in good standing.
* Two scholarships per year not to exceed $500 each will be awarded
* The Administrative Team of Smith Baptist Association will select the recipients from among the applicants each year. Decisions made by the team are final.

SMITH COUNTY BAPTIST MINISTER SCHOLARSHIP - Scholarship offered through East Texas Communities Foundation (ETCF). The scholarship will be awarded to dependent children of ordained Baptist ministers serving congregations in Smith County that are members of the Baptist General Convention of Texas. It is a one-year scholarship. Recipients may reapply as long as their parent remains a Smith County Baptist Minister. Applications can be downloaded from www.etcf.org or ETCF, 315 N. Broadway, Ste. 210, Tyler, Texas 75702. Deadline is March 1, 2012.
The Smith Baptist Association Annual Meeting will be Sunday, January 29, 2012.
Tyland Baptist Church will be hosting this meeting. Dinner begins at 5 p.m. with the meeting following at 6 p.m. Chaplain Randy Potter along with other representatives from our Association will be giving mission reports. Come share the excitement as we see how our churches have fulfilled the Acts 1:8 directive given by our Lord.
