Dr. Danny Pickens
Director of Missions
Danny came to SBA in 1999 as the Director of Church Ministries. Upon the resignation of the Executive Director Danny was called to become the new Director of Missions. Danny holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from East Texas Baptist College, a Master of Arts in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Educational Ministries degree, also from SWBTS. Danny has lived in and around Tyler since 1969. His knowledge of Tyler, the experience gained from serving East Texas churches in several different roles for 27 years and his love for missions, makes him uniquely qualified as our Director of Missions.
Meegan Soule'
Ministry Assistant (Below Left)
Meegan Soule' came aboard with Smith Association in July of 2002, as our Ministry Assistant. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Communications from the University of Texas @ Tyler. Her communications background is an asset to Smith Association, helping her to develop and maintain excellent interpersonal relationships with our church personnel. Meegan moved to the Tyler area in 1994 from Atlanta, Texas. She grew up in Associational Ministry work, as her father has served as a Director of Missions for twenty six years. Her familiarity and knowledge of this ministry has been a valuable asset to the Association.
Sue Sexton
Secretary (Above Right)
Sue Sexton, served along side her husband Bob as a pastor's wife for twenty-seven years. After his retirement in 2002 she began helping in the office as a volunteer. Soon she began working with Smith Association as a paid employee on an as needed basis. With the increased ministry of SBA she has become a part-time associational secretary. Her experience as a pastor's wife and her seven years service as a church secretary provides our office with a totally different perspective. Sue is a very capable and efficient secretary, and loves the Lord and His work.
Harold Richardson
Accountant
Harold came to the Association as our accountant in 2002 after serving two years as its treasurer. Harold earned a BBA from the University of North Texas. He received his CPA certificate in 1960. After 9 years in public practice he served 8 years as the CFO of Letourneau College. In 1975 he began his service with Southern Baptist in Dallas as controller of BGCT. In 1979 Harold served Guidestone Financial Services as treasurer, CFO, and Executive Vice President. He retired in 1998 and moved to Tyler where he resides with his wife Martha.
